CDMX Announces Historic Investment to Address Water Crisis

Head of Government CDMX Clara Brugada announced a historic investment to address the water crisis. In her message, she emphasized that the city faces a 'double challenge': water scarcity in various zones and excess rainfall causing floods. The Aqüifera 2026 Festival will be open to the public for several days, consolidating itself as one of the main cultural and environmental offerings in Mexico City. Activities include: workshops and conferences on water, environmental tours, concerts, theater and dance, immersive experiences, family activities. Member of the Citizen Rectoral Council, Jorge Rickards, highlighted the importance of the forest as a national symbol and a space for connecting with nature. Representatives of the private sector, such as the Coppel Foundation, stressed the importance of promoting projects that foster sustainability and environmental education in public spaces. The inauguration included a pre-Hispanic ceremony by the group Ocelotzin, making a call to recover the spiritual and cultural relationship with water, evoking the roots of Tenochtitlan. Brugada concluded with an invitation to residents and tourists: 'We want to reconcile with water, stop seeing it as a threat, and recognize it as the root of life.'
